The Wilderness Games, Pt 2

We're gearing up for our big Wilderness Games Overnight Challenge this evening. What better way to prepare than to take a look back at the last three skill days?

Click "read more" to see what we've been cooking up!

Day Three of the Skill Camps was Weaponry Workshop; the campers got to practice their archery skills, learning all about good technique and proper safety practices.

Ready...nock your arrows
Good aim is always important!
And fire!
Skill Camp number four, Tools & Techniques, had the campers learning about some basic primitive tools, and creating their own, including duck and quail calls:

Walking sticks, too!

The campers even found a garter snake! Unfortunately, it looked like something else had found it first

The final Skill Camp, Foraging and Fires, got to expand their palettes learning all about wild edibles & sampling some new cuisine!

We fried up duck and quail eggs
Sampled some roasted crickets
Hmm...not bad!
Yum!
Roasting mealworms
Trying not to burn them!
Delicious!
Here goes nothin'!
The campers crushed the roasted mealworms...
and rolled their baked apples in a mixture of worms and honey
Wanna try?
Cricket Sampling

Stay tuned for pictures from the Wilderness Games Overnight Challenge!
